Fly Fishing in Baja, Mexico

Its all about the Roosters

Its all about the Roosters

Roosterfish do not have a huge geographical range. Baja is their main stomping ground. These huge apex-predators roam the beaches of Baja Mexico's East Cape. Their numbers are largest in the spring and fall, but you can catch a rooster from the beach almost any day of the year.

While there are other popular fisheries in Baja, most anglers will visit with Roosters as their primary.

Dorado (called Mahi Mahi, or Dolphinfish in other locations) will take the same flies. You can also catch Yellowtail, Amberjacks, Sierra, Bonita and a variety of other fish from the beach. They will all take the same flies, so you are in luck there...
