Caddis is the word from the great trout fisheries of Montana, Colorado etc, throw in some PMD’s, BWO’s and for the colder waters samonflies especially Yellow Sallies and you have some hatching bugs to occupy and mesmerize the trout population. Gray Drakes are also getting hits.
On the eastern half of the US Sulphurs, Isonychias, Drakes, Light Cahills, and again our summer friends the Caddis, are proving to be the ticket.
Silversides are haunting the eastern harbors and with them come Stripers pushing these baitfish to the surface. Sand eels are also prevalent

PMD’s are showing up with increasing frequency for the heavily pressured areas try the Sparkle Dun. Baetis/BWO’s are reliable on windy cloudy days.
If you see salmonflies crawling up the banks think Kaufmann stones, stimulators, for the huge hatches we have the Giant Salmon Fly, and for those long hatched yellow salmonflies try Yellow Sallies and the Little Yellow Poxyback.
March Browns are hatching in many areas, the March Brown Spider is a great searching pattern as well as an emerger pattern.
Virtually all mayflies are in hatch or will be shortly some other great all around choice are Grey Fox, Light Cahill, and of course Adams.
Don’t forget caddis for those long summer nights, Elk Hair Caddis, X Caddis, Henryville Special, EZ caddis are all great choices.
Stripers in Ma and other places are making their annual return keep the Ray’s Fly, Sand Eel, Sea Habit Herring handy.
Alaska and Western Canada are fighting the chromers, tough work but somebody has to do it.
