Montana is synonymous for fly fishing. In fact you could say the fly fishing industry exploded in the United States because of Montana, and in no small part to Robert Redford's movie of the classic Norman Maclean novella A River Runs Through it.
But Montana has been on the fly fishing map, since fly fishing hit west of the Mississippi, and it really is no wonder why.
Countless rivers, miles and miles of waterfront access, and great native, wild trout. A somewhat compressed season adds to the ferocity of hatch activity. And then there are the lakes cold water impoundments, short feeding seasons with hatching midges and stalking trout.
If you love pursuing the wild trout a trip to Montana needs to be on your things to do list.
