Carp
General Info: Carp fishing is more popular than most folks will admit. You can call them the poor man's bonefish if it helps. These behemoths are picky eaters, they fight hard, they are big, and they are strong! If you haven't tried carp fishing, there are likely a whole bunch of them within a few miles of you, right now. While they are not the most glorious sport fish, they are the most widespread. Here are our favorites for carp fishing.
Recommended Gear:
Rods: Fly rods, 6-8wt rods are preferred. It is not recommended to use a lighter rod than a 6wt.
Favorites: Echo B.A.G. This rod has a soft tip, perfect for delicate presentations to spooky carp. Unique among heavier fly rods. Others; Big Y Standard, TFO Pro III, Orvis Clearwater.
Reels: Nothing fancy, just match the rod
Favorites: Big Y Standard, Lamson Liquid, Orvis Clearwater
Lines: General Purpose, not too heavy in the front, weight forward, floating
